I got my first jointer from a friend who never used it in the 16 years he owned it- a PM 54. After searching the posts here and about an hour of reading last night, I went out to the shop and set up my jointer blades and the outfeed table height and tried a board. Let's just say that you can't get better than perfect. I straghtened a 3' spruce 1x4 with a 3/4" whip so it sits flat on the TS deck. I then face jointed to really test myself and it came out great! Thanks to anyone who ever posted anything on jointer set up (used a method where the blades and outfeed are adjusted so each blade moves a small board about 3/16" toward the infeed when rotated by hand, blades were set at correct height) and jointer technique.
