This was a battle. I was given a chunk of wood, by the president of our local turning club. I don't know what it is, kinda looks like walnut, but it isn't. It has worm holes, and a lot of cracks. But has a beautiful grain.
It sure doens't compare with the beautiful work that has been posted here, but it was a learning experience. Gluing cracks, I tried some sawdust, and CA glue. Some Coffee grounds, and CA glue. I ended turning away most of the fixes, and left the craks natural. There was some punky areas, also a tearout problems. A lot of trips to the Tormek to resharpen the scrapers. I got a lot of experience on tool control with the bowl gouge. I also spent a lot of time rewatching Bill's video. I was proud to say that I finally didn't get any catches, or launch it accross the shop this time.:D
Finished with Watco Oil.
Not a great NE, but it's my first, and it survived the forces of the "VORTEX".
