Having fun using my mini hollowing rig on the Jet mini. Afzelia burl with a rolled Ebony collar. 4" diameter by 3 1/2" tall. Light coat of Watco then buffed.

Travis, that's a wonderful form. Beautiful.
I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty to faddle with your photo a little to bring it closer to what I think is the natural color. There is still a little blue at the edges that I couldn't remove. (Hopefully, you're not using a blue background for your photo tent...any colored backdrop will transfer to the piece being photographed if there is any sheen at all. I don't thing that is the case here, however...probably over-saturation and white balance with the camera.
Here it is...

More good stuff, Travis! I'm really liking this collar you're doing. I'm gonna have to try that one out...
What a great piece of wood!

Beautiful work Travis! I gotta know..........you are turning the collar separately and then glueing it on?

Good grief, Travis!.... You're some kind of creative machine over there, man! Somehow, though, I never tire of seeing your beautiful work. Fantastic piece of wood and you did it justice! :)

My hat should "be off" to ya, but it's staying put for now. Well done!
And you too, Jim. You should give us a lesson on how to do this "faddling" thing.

Jim, I had taken the pics outside and must have left some setting off.:o
Ken, yes, the collar is turned seperately then glued on.;)

And just when I think I'm making a little headway. I want to pick this one up and hold it for a while. Nice Travis.

Jim,
Would this not perhaps be a good time for a pic enhancing tutorial?

That is a lovely form, Travis. The grain is well set off by the shape. I'm rather partial to that shape as well---it seems somewhat humaniform and vaguely feminine---both items that lend to a soothing visual experience.
