Are the older Delta Rockwell tools the same quality as the older Delta Tools? Thanks for any help.

I have owned several of both brands over the years & do not recall any difference in quality between them.

There have been various ups and downs and ups again in quality over the years, but not particularly related to the Delta Rockwell period.

It is nothing more than a name change. I have had a 1964 Rockwell/Delta Unisaw in use since '99. Fine machine and parts are still available. Even with the name changes over the years, the saws are still the same Unisaw.

Lewis,
A lot depends on the machine type and age. I have a early '70's contractors saw and it has been a great machine. There are other machines that have not had a great track record.

More info over at OWWM.com.

Do you have a specific model in mind?

Wes

Lewis,
The Rockwell years with the upside down "Y" (peace sign) are to be carefully scrutinized. This actually a stylized space shuttle. There were varying quality control problems during those years. Rockwell was in the picture from 1945-1984. 1945-1972 are considered the better years. There were some good machines and there were some not so good. Give any used machine a thorough going over.

I have 4 elec power drills and a couple portable 12v -18v etc. My favorite and one that gets most use is an old Rockwell when I'm in the shop.
