Anyone want some turning wood?

While I was gone on vacation a Bradford pear tree where I work toppled over. It is about 14" across in the main trunk and about 25 feet tall. Part of the main trunk is rotted, but there appears to be some interesting spalting in the rest of it. We have to get it sawed up and hauled away. It's yours for the hauling!

Pear is wonderful to turn. It has a light brown color and is smooth as silk. While devoid of significnt grain it will hold an edge that is razor sharp. My best bowl ever is a pear. Ornaments, birdhouses, etc all look good in pear. Call a local turning club and offer it to them. They will jump all over it-- - guaranteed. Phil
