Harry,

Can you explain what the shoulder saw is used for? I find it most interesting, and can think of a few different things to do with it. Just thought it would be nice to know what it was designed for...

Alan, I use it to saw to depth and width when making dados on the end of a board and when making the tail for a sliding dovetail joint. It prevents chip out when planing cross grain and on dados lets you remove a lot of the material with a chisel on end grain by letting you pop a large chunk of the waste off before finish planing. The blade I use in it is the crosscut blade that works in my stairsaw also. I have one blade cc and on rip.
