My Mom is getting on in years, so I have to forgive her for this. Last fall she gave me a dozen bulbs and said they were daffodils that she took out and didn't have room for. I planted them in a circle around the birdbath in the front yard. These things kept getting taller and taller. The other daffodils bloomed, the tulips bloomed, finally yesterday I noticed these had bloomed and they are NOT daffodils. They look more like chives or onions but are over 2' high. The blooms are over 2" diameter. Anyone know what they are? So far no smell.

My guess is onions.

Leaves? 'Hard to identify something with just the flower out of context...

chives and or wild onions

They could also be some sort of variety of Allium. (added during the edit)

The leaves look just like daffodil leaves. The flower stem is about 6" higher than any of the leaves.

That's it! I looked it up, it's a purple Allium, and is a member of the onion and Garlic family. Thanks Joe!

Looks like scabiosa, variety may be butterfly blue. Very hard to tell without seeing some leaves too.

If it's in the daffodils, it's a weed!

It is an allium, most likely a 'drumstick' allium. I have both that and scabiosa in my back yard. Scabiosa is also called pincushion flower, and is flatter than the allium.

.... I tried to enlarge your pic but couldn't. It looks to me like wild thistle! Just a composite guess ;).
