Hematite

Hi All, I am trying some test lasering on hematite beads. The small, fine text is not very clean and sometimes large chips appear on a fine line.

Just wondering if anyone has had good luck with this material? Wonder if a 1.5" lens would make much difference from my 2"? Thanks Lynn

Have you played with power and speed settings??? Varying these could be the ticket to what you need, remember, you will not "engrave" into this mineral but you certainly can get a good "marking" on it. I have used this stuff as well a polished agate slabs and others with good results. On my machines I hit it @ 20%pwr / 30%speed 300 DPI (25W), hope this can help you out.
