Creating a vector outline

The attached version 12 CDR shows how I go about creating a vector outline. I'm not the bestest at typing and thinking at the same time but I think I got the gist of it.

PS, right click link, select save target or link or whatever it says and don't forget to delete the .html or change it to cdr, whichever your browser needs.

if you do a lot of this type thing , would upgrade to X3
This has some features that make this and other operations much easier like its powertrace functions with background removal , the create boundary function that creates a closed die line curve around complex groups and objects and the smart fill tool (smartfill "sees" and makes a closed path with interecting curves or lines etc For example you can isolate just the inner square of a graphic that looks like a # with a closed path entity) which will make inlays and compensation a snap
We do a lot of this type work , print and cut where we need vector die lines and some specialised engraving where we need to compensate for tool bits etc and X3 has saved us huge amounts of time in getting this right.
To do that job in X3 , I would have powertraced the flower , then simply deleted the background , then used "create boundry" to make the die line round the resultant group of entities , offset the dieline outward or inwards for any compensation or bleed or whatever and used a reduce node tool if the dieline was overly complex. Would take about 2-3 minutes

Michael, thanks for sharing, this is what I've been looking for, except when I open the files all I see are symbols and I don't know how to unscramble them. I've ordered the Corel update so probably won't have it until next week. I agree on these short tutorials. If you fumble around and figure it out doesn't mean that is the best way to get there. Ray, when you click the link, right click it and select save link target or however it is worded in your browser. You may have to change the extension. For instance, in Firefox, the file has .html appended to it. I have to delete the .html so that it just says filename.cdr

The file is saved in version 12, if need be I can save it in an earlier version, just let me know.

I don't think the Forum software likes me. I'm posting the zipped file to see if that works better.
