Hi All.

I am needing to cut some 5 in. crowm molding. It seems if I try to cut it with my miter saw, the motor hits the molding before finnishing the cut. This is with the molding laying at a 45 to the table and the fence.

Is there some way to cut this on a table saw, or maybe laying flat on the miter saw table?

I have inside and outside corners to deal with.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim:
Try www.dewalt.com (http://www.dewalt.com) they have a totural on cutting crown, in both the lay down or stand up ways amd with a SCMS, CMS, or a reg. miter saw. They also have a chart on all the settings for the different angles. And you can print it all out. You would have to determine what the angle of your crown is, if it's store bought, it is most likely 38/52*, generally 45/45 crown is a special order or custom made. Good opportunity to get a new tool ( a 12 SCMS ). I've done a lot of crown in my life, and I'd just as soon walk over glass as cut it laying down.
