Here is another retirement box I just finished it will be delivered friday, lacewood, cherry and cedar on the box bottom. This one was fun because I had complete design control this time. All they wanted was that it not to be like any other they had seen, the finish is general clear about 6 coats. the bottom is removable so it can be hung on a wall if desired.
Thanks for looking

Wow!
That is beautiful work Larry! I love the mitered dovetail accent. You better close the lid, it looks like someone’s looking for a new sleeping quarters!

That's a very nice box, Larry. Great wood, cool and unique details, and it's all executed nicely. The recipient is a very fortunate person. Great job.

I was thinking the cat was looking for some food. He looks like he could use a few pounds. :D (I know, he's a Greyhound racing cat. He's suppposed to be thin.)

Larry, having made many of these myself I can tell you that the design is truly unique and beautiful (and one I may "borrow" in the future). I know the yeoman you made it for will cherish it.

If I may, what are the dimensions (looks to be 18x24x?)? Was it designed to specifically sit on a table/desk, as opposed to the typical ones that hang on the wall.

Thanks again for showing us your beautiful work.

Be well,

Doc

Thanks all for the compliments, I was really happy with the design.

I think the final was about 11.5 X 19 inside the box and the sides are 3/4 the top and the bottom add anoother 3/4", It was made to hold the blue awards folders side by side. It can also hang on the wall the bottom is removable but the original design was to have it set on a table.
Thanks again
Larry

Great job Larry! Looks like one of my retiring Yeoman brethren is going to be getting an awesome shadow box. BTW, who the heck shaved your cat?! :)

That my final inspector he is a hairless cat, so don't have to worry with cat hair all over the place. He really loves the smell of cedar and cherry for some reason, so he's got good taste in wood.

No, NO! Kitty. It may smell like cedar but it's NOT your litter box!

Very beautiful box.
