I've put the shop on hold for now, but I've decided to build a work station so I can have a shop of sorts at the house. If anyone is familiar with the 'Ultimate' tool stand plan published a few years back in American Woodworker, (which is still 'alive' on the web here: http://http://christophermerrill.net/ww/plans/UTS/Tool_Stand_1.html)

I've decided to build a stand to hold my chopsaw, scroll saw and benchtop model Workmate. Plus some clamps etc...
I might even convince the LOML to let me put the tablesaw in the current shed, but I doubt it. She won't like that I'll be putting the tool stand in there, except that I'll also be building a ramp and reorganizing everything in there as well.
More later as I'm at W***, but picture a work table with wheels on one end (wheelbarrow style) so that I can roll it out to the yard, set things up in a few minutes and then put it all away just as easily. I'll mount the wheels so that If I lift up on one end I can roll the station.

My buddy John suggested a miter saw stand on wheels, but I want to also be able to use my scroll saw and the workmate, which gets me a vice etc... plus small tool storage.

Here's a link that works.

Nice design.

Ned, That looks like it should work well for you. And it will be a keeper even when you build your "ultimate" shop.

Do you plan to build it just as shown or just to use the idea and to make something similar? When do you think that you will have it finished?

whoops, thanks for the better link
I will NOT be building that design exactly, but something similar. I'll be using 10" pneumatic wheels, this is going out in the yard, no garage here. I think mine will be just over 4' long vs 6, and with a torsion box, but using 2x4's instead of the MDF to support the top. more open than that box design. I will definitely have the clamping slots in the top section, and room for only two tools: scrollsaw and CMS. If I get ambitious I might do up a router insert as well, but that will come later if at all. My workmate toolbox will be on one end, so I'll likely have dog holes for long clamping duties using the workmate's vice.
I'll try and get this all done this coming weekend, weather allowing. It shouldnt' take too long to whip together.

here's a sketch of what I've decided to go with. Three 'handy panels' from the Borg, and thanks to John, I've got most of the cuts done for the clamping section of the top. I've still got to measure to make it 'outfeed table height', and I have to find axle bolts for the lawnmower wheels I picked up a long time ago. I expect we'll get the top section done tomorrow, and I'll get the rest cobbled together over the rest of the week. as it is supposed to rain just about the entire week.

I was just looking in my 'subscribed threads' and noticed this one...

I cant' find the sketch any longer, but since I got 'this far' on the tool stand, I think I can do without the sketch, no?

that is 3/4 of a sheet of 3/4" CDX, with 2x4 legs. I didn't put wheels on it (yet), and as you can see it is holding up some of the lumber for my shop project which got put on hold last year. I'm hoping to resurrect that project in the next few weeks, once the nasty white stuff:

goes away. I've dug the truck and the driveway out, but don't think I'll be doing any construction soon. do you?

Ned, Looks like you could get it in the yard better if you had ski's on one end.

Well, the snow is long gone, but I've had some hold-ups on the shop. They're almost cleared and I'll be breaking ground on my shop next week.

To get ready for that, I re-organized my storage unit, in order to dig out my Miter stand

Nothing fancy, but it should do the job:
