I needed to rip at a 45* angle and the saw started to stall out. (Delta CS). I re-set the blade at 90* to the miter slot (Was off about 1/32" :( )
Set the fence out 1/32" at the back and then set the blade at 45*. When I checked it to the miter it's off 1/32"+. How can I get both settings (parallel ??) to the miter slot? I don't set the blade at 45* very often. If I can't get them equal, would re-setting the fence to the blade work? I'd rather get the blade aligned right if possible. Also, how tight do you tighten down the trunnions, REAL tight?? I don't want to break anything.

Thanks,

Joe

Bill,

I adjusted the blade at 90*. I think I'm going to have to do the "Racking" adjustment, but reading it, I'm sorta lost. Is there someplace that explains it in simpler terms?? I'd really hate to screw this up and need to pay a Delta Tech. to fix it. :(

Thanks,

Joe

Joe I was having a problem similar to that with my TS and I found out that when I tipped the blade to the side the belt would tighten up and cause the saw to be out of square. My motor hangs on the back so I just loosened the bolt that kept the belt tight and let the weight of the motor keep tension on the belt. This seemed to take care of the problem.

Make sure your trunnion tie rods are parallel before trying to align the saw blade to the miter slot. If you don't, the bevel cuts will never align properly.

Here's the Delta Instructions for doing the alignment

Dave,

My belt is just tensioned by the weight of the motor.

Thanks!
