A couple of years ago I bought a 2 piece rail and stile bit
set for glass panel doors from A&I supply. It's made by
Woodline. I'm not in the habit of buying cheap bits but I
wasn't going to use it much and I decided that $50 was
a reasonable risk to take. Shortly after receiving it I was
in a bad motorcycle crash and was unable to do too much
woodworking other than what I could do from a wheel chair.
I've finally been able to hobble/walk around my shop much easier
for the past few months and about a week ago I decided
to finish an old project and give this bit set a try. I set it up
and did some test cuts and noticed that the profiles didn't
match up. It's a round over profile and the male and female
profiles are slightly different. Adjustment wasn't going to fix
this problem. I figured that since it's been so long and since
A&I no longer sells Woodline bits I was out of luck. I just
discovered that Woodline is still going strong and a few minutes
ago I decided to give them a call. I described the problem
and told, "Wayne" when and where I had bought the bits and
he said that it wasn't a problem, they'd send me a new set
right away. I gave the order lady my shipping info and they're
sending me out a new bit set. No other questions asked.
No hassle. Just friendly, honest service. Wayne said that
the bit must've had a defective grind. I guess that could
happen to any company once in a while and hopefully the
new set will be a good one. Most of my bits are either from
Infinity or Whiteside but I figure if a company gives such
good customer service and they're less expensive I would
let others know about them. The cut quality of the bits I
have is fine so as long as they get the profile accuracy right
I think I got a great deal. http://www.woodline.com
