Any quick recommendations on a speedy cordless drill? I've got a little 7.2 volt (0-250 / 0-600 RPM) Makita and a BIG 24 volt Bosch. I need something in the middle that spins at least 1300 or 1400 rpm (preferably faster) to push small drill bits (under 1/4"). I don't need a bunch of torque (the Bosch will handle that) I just want the speedy speedy speed.

I need to order from Amazon it by the time I leave to a job tomorrow morning (7:00 am) so I can have it by Wednesday. I've got 5 ceiling fans and 2 bath exhaust fans to install in an attic with a low pitch (4 and 12). My Bosch is heavier than I want to lug around up there and I my little Makita doesn't spin fast enough to really drill anything.

If I have to buy one I would rather buy a brand name that will last and has a great track record and reputation. I'd REALLY prefer just a drill and batteries instead of a combo kit. I only want the drill and can't ue the other stuff a combo offers.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much for any help and advice.

I have Dewalt 12 volt & 14.4 volt drills. They run up to 1800 RPM.
The 12 volt is a DC980KA
The 14.4 volt is a DC983KA

I have had great luck with Mekita they are not the top rated drills but they do hold up and another thing I like is the chargers are almost allwas beckward compatible with other Mekita battries my 9.6, 12 volt battries work in my 14.4 charger and the battries last a long time I have some from 1985 still going strong the 14.4 drill well fill your needs well.

In the mass-market, consider the Panasonic. Also look at the Festool 12v drill/drivers. Very nice weight and comfortable in the hand. GREAT battery life, too.

I bought a couple of the new bosch 14.4, replacing some of my older pc drills.
Batteries have a 3 year warranty, blue core batteries.
Last twice as long between charges. Around 140.00

Fein 14.4 from Coastal (www.coastaltool.com (http://www.coastaltool.com)). For $99, IMHO, you'd be hard pressed to find a better drill/driver. Not to mention that Coastal is a great place to do business with.

I second that recommendation.:) I bought the Fein 14.4 when it was on sales a couple months ago, and it is a joy to use. The best part is the chuck. The drill shaft locks when the drill stops, then just a couple not-so-hard turns of the chuck and click click the bit is tight or loose. Great chuck mechanism.
