For some reason I like covered bowls and this one is made out of one of my favorite woods. Black Agate. Hope you like it.

That is some beautiful wood! What kind of finish does that have on it? Very nice work!!!

Mark: The wood is rough turned , boiled for a few hours and let to dry down to about 10% when it is in the sun. Then I finish turning , sand, apply laquer sealer and then polyurethe floor finish. Let it set for a month and wet sand, polish with car buffing compound in the lathe and wax. I will post a photo of some bowls waiting out the drying period. Patience is everything if you want the shine.

Gorgeous wood, and a beautiful bowl, Jim. I'd insert "wolf_whistle.mp3" if I actually had something of that variety. Also, the layer-o-bowls in the polishing phases had my mouth agog.

Beautiful bowls you got there. Can we see a pic of the lidded bowl with the lid off? That is a nice shine you got on 'em. Thanks for showing.

Rich: Here is the photo less the cover. Sorry about the photo the secretary usually does them and is not here today.

Man!!! That is plumb beautiful. I gotta try one of them. Too bad patience is not my strong point. I'm working on it though. Thanks for the pictures.

I was wondering how you were going to cover a bowl with agate.
Never heard of the wood, but it sure is nice and you did a great job on it.
