I THINK that I may be FAMOUS!! (pics)

Hi folks,
I was recently approached by the esteemed and highly respected organization which we all know as the, "International Symposium on Sordid, Crude, Rudimentary, Amateuristic Products". This honored body is popularly recognized as IS-SCRAP!

With humble gratefulness, I accepted their Commission to make a gavel for the new Mayor of the thriving megalopolis of Peshtigo, WI. :eek: :)

I was doubly honored because Mayor Strouf is a friend of mine, both as the former Police Chief and now as Mayor. :)

I'm still not at my point, Tom Strouf is a TRUE and benevolent ARTIST. :D I have expensive tools that allow me to participate on this Forum because my tools are good enough to make a few "acceptable" projects that I can display without total embarrassment. :o Tom has virtually no REAL tools and creates works of ART with skill, dedication and TALENT! :eek: I like to help him with My tools whenever I can be of some benefit.

In addition, Mr. Strouf is also a concert-level pianist! He frequently gives concerts to all of the local Nursing Homes, hospitals and many churches! His first act as Mayor was to give his $12,000 Health Insurance policy back to the city so that they could hire a couple of lifeguards for the city beach. :eek:

Lastly, the first few pics are self-explanatory. Tom gave me the giraffe in exchange for the gavel. I promptly donated it to the city Library. Incidentally, the plexiglass flowers are ALSO his creation. The decorative birdhouse started out as a chunk of 4"x4" Cedar that I bored out for him. :)

By the way, I DO NOT live in the City of peshtigo so the only time that he can have me "detained" is on my daily visit to City Hall to report to my parole Officer. :( ;)

Come to think of it tho, your plan may have backfired. Tom ought to be better able to keep you in line with that fine weighty Gavel.

BTW, tell him I like his work too. The stylized legs on the giraffe are terrific!

Regardless of all the fluff you wrote, the truth is some make license plates, you make gavels for the mayor. :D ;) So much for the work release program.

The mayor looks mighty pleased with his gavel and his work is very nice also. The gavel is pretty nice too. ;) :)

I now live in Iquitos, Peru and I can clearly remember watching the first landing on the moon while living in Peshtigo about 7 in the evening if this old mind remembers correctly. LONG time ago . I worked for Thompson Boat Co. , do they still exist ?

Greetings from the Home of the Bulldogs!! :) Unfortunately, the Thompson Boat Co. no longer exists and I am not an heir to the family fortune. Surprisingly enough, I still get about one call a year from "Thompson" owners in various parts of the country wondering if I know anything about obtaining parts or blueprints. These boats are REALLY valuable at this time. :D

I, too, remember the moon landing. I was living in Marinette at the time and worked for the Ansul Co.

Yikes!!! I met up with Thompson Bros. Boat Co. vessels on Echo Lake in California, and they were the preferred mode of travel (sure beat walking).

Hearing that they are no longer producing is as saddening to me as learning that the Tashiro Hardware store (walk-in), no longer exists in Seattle.
