I keep experimenting with new ideas. The inspiration for this came from some beautiful bowls I saw in a gallery on the Oregon coast by Chris Andrews. He used hand slumped glass that is gorgeous. This is a small pottery dish we got in Costa Rica as a souvenir. The overall size is 9" x 2.25". Finish is three coats of Minwax Gloss Wipe On poly and Beel buffed. I've had the piece of Myrtlewood for a long time and couldn't stand to turn it because it was so beautiful. I didn't want to waste it so I hope this put it to good use.

Chris is going to be doing the demo for the Wilamette Valley Woodturners tomorrow night (in Salem, OR), and I will be away on a show trip to California. Wish I could be in two places at once.

WOW!

That is beautiful Earl. I just like everything about it. To me it says touch me and that's exactly what I'd like to do.

Very nice multi-media piece! The species you chose was a perfect match for the pottery.

Very nice piece, and inspirational. If I lived on the Oregon coast, I'd have a lot more time to turn.

Thanks all. I have a friend who has some molds and kiln for slumping glass. He has said he will make some bowls for me so I hope I can make more. Reed, too bad I can't be in Salem tomorrow. Would love to see Chris making these.
