I will be cutting a Roman arch from 6" wide by 50 inch long 3/4 thick maple. I currently have a handheld jigsaw. What will be the best way to cut this so that it is smooth and even? Are there any jigs I can buy that will help?

David,
If you have a template, here is an EZ solution for you. http://eurekazone.com/gallery/EZ-Duplicator

Template and a router works great.

If your radius is a true radius, you can use your router like a compass to cut the arch. It is quick and easy after you set up your router jig.

Do I use the router free hand or is there a jig I can buy? Also what bit do I use? It is going to be a roman arch that has a flat edge.
