Someone experienced in this should post something in the tutorial section on this. I know I for one would make use of it. I'm about to do some greenwood turnings and could use some consolidated information written by creekers for creekers. ;)

Keith, you can find the information on Dave Smith's Website. He is "Da Man" when it comes to Alcohol Soaking/Drying of green wood turnings. All of Dave's information can be found at his website, woodnheart.com. I hope this helps!

Keith that is where I got most of my info also. It is a great site. That a few questions to Dennis Peacock.

I've just started trying out the alcohol process, but i've been wondering on the necessity of the paper bag around the outside. Right now all the stuff that has been soaked (paices that were fairly green to ones that had already sat about for a couple of months), is sitting out in the open air. No problems seen so far, but none of it has been chucked up to turn again.

What's rationale for the bagging after soaking, and what can happen if you eliminate that step?

Thanks
bob

The bag prevents the bowl from losing moisture too fast!
It is a very important step in the DNA Method!
Some wood is less prone to check anyway but some checks if you look at it wrong.

I don't have paper bags, will a few sheets of newspaper work?

Cheers!

Keith,
Dennis Peacock also posted a nice step-by-step to help folks get an idea of what's involved. It's over in the articles section. Very helpful. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=34370

:D I knew there were alot of posts about it. I was simply too lazy to dig them out. LOL. Thanks for the links! I still say it should be turned into a tutorial and put in the tutorial section. Spinners represent !
