Haven't been doing much turning for the last month or so but did finish up these three bowls. The two smaller ones are spalted holly and the large one is a curly maple bowl.

The holly bowls are 9" x 2-1/2" and 7" x 2" and the maple bowl is 12" x 3". All bowls have wipe on poly and then Beall buffed.

Thanks for looking.

Dick,

Good looking stuff!!! How on earth did you manage to get that holly to not split/crack?

It is fun to turn and see those nice white shavings coming off..........

Keep 'em coming.,,,,,,,,,,,,

Those are some big suckers! Pretty too! I've not had the chance to do any holly yet, and those make it very tempting.:)

Dick those are some mighty fine bowls. Always wanted to turn some holly but have heard it can split or crack a lot. Did you DNA or how did you dry it and not have it crack or split? Great work Dick.

Nice job Dick..... I really like the figure in those and the finish is beautiful.

Oh... I'm not even going to mention the craftsmanship because we always expect the best of that from you and get it :)

Nice bowls Dick! Now out with the secret on the holly or dispel the cracking rumor!

Those are really nice Dick! Would like to see a close up of the dark
bowl and I think a Pipe? behind those...

Thanks everyone,

The holly was very easy to turn. The small one does have a little crack on the one end (end grain) but with the spalting it is hard to see. The larger one has not cracks at all, and yes I did put them in DNA and then let them sit for about 3 weeks.

This was my first attempt at holly and I really like it. The two bowls are from one half of a log I had sitting around for about a year. They were side by side in the half.

Thanks again.

Those are eye popping NICE! Love the maple, but that spalted holly is doubly impressive. Thanks for sharing!
