My brother planed a couple of maple boards for me so I thought I would try my first plates. I asked him whether it was hard maple or soft and he told me medium. So here are my medium maple plates.

Thanks for lookin,
Pete

Pete,
Great looking plates/platters. I noticed on the reverse, the screw hole is still visible. As Richard Raffan showed in his video, put a nice size forstner bit in your drill press, line it up straigt, or even off-set it. Turn a piece of contrasting wood, maybe walnut or mesquite, and glue it in then turn it off. It is a stiking effect.

Not criticizing, just suggesting.
