I've seen a lot of discussion about TS sleds, but the question I have isn't really answered by them. Does anyone have a TS sled whose middle slot is adjustable so that you can use it from narrow kerf blades all the way to, say, one inch kerf to accomodate dado stacks?

Hi Oliver welcome to SMC. I do not use one but I have seen several plans for a sled as you mention where the center is a removable insert. I believe if you go to the Woodnet home page there are plans available for purchase.

Corey: I'll check Woodnet---and thanks for the welcome. Looks like a great forum.

Mark: Any possibility of you posting plans and/or photos? I'd like to reporduce your sled.

Oliver,
I built my sled from AW plans a few years ago. As you can see from the pictures, it has a replaceable throat & base plate. I made a few extra throat plates and one base plate, I’ve never used that feature though.

Bruce: AW = American Woodworker? If so, thought I know this is a hassle, would you be able to give me the reference as to which issue? I think I would like to build this!

Thanks.

Oliver, I believe it was American Woodworker issue #93 from around 2000/2001. I gave my copy to a friend, otherwise I’d copy it for you. You’ll find some more info and pic’s in this thread: http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=5915

Another way to do it is to just use a flat piece of 1/4" stock over the bed of the sled, and then take off one side and move it when the slot you need is narrower than the last slot you cut. I use two sleds, one regular and one for dados, but this needn't be the only way.
