Trying a few different forms with the NE. The first one is mesquite 12.5" x 6". Then is a walnut bowl at 18" x 6". It has a bit of spalting. All of this walnut has been sort of dirty looking. The third is walnut... 10.75" x 5".
All are finished with oil and then lacquer.

More to come...

The first pic is the second pic of the third bowl in the first post:confused:
The next is walnut at 12" x 4.25" and the last is walnut at 10" x 5.5".

Thanks for looking and of course critiques are welcome.

Ernie...........I've not turned a NE but I'd sure like to! The NEs you've turned are gorgeous! What kind of oil did you use?

Ken, I said oil, but it is really a mixture of equal parts blo, spar varnish, and mineral spirits. I then added a quart of turpentine to the 3 gal mixture because it was a bit sticky... just experimenting.

You guys and your NE bowls!!!! I always knock the bark off sometime during the process so I have given up on them. Ernie your bowls are very nice. I really like the shape of the second bowl, first post.

Terry, I have found that using a parting tool on the initial cut on the inside of the bowl to be very helpful in that, then thin CA glue where the bark meets the wood.
