I've got two old (like 30+ years) lamps on my headboard. They were getting pretty tired looking years ago, but I hadn't been able to find replacements (1) that I liked and (2) that were the right size.

So I took a break from making bowl blanks and glued up a 6.5"x6.5"x10" block out of a piece of 1x8 red oak I had. Turned both bases out of one piece so I could get them (close to) the same, then bandsawed it in half.

Polishing the metal bits while they was apart helped a lot too.:D

Lee you did a great job on it. I like yours better. Nice fit and finish. That is a good looking lamp.

Lee, I'm diaappointed...I just knew you were going to tell us how to turn cork. Really though, I'm real glad you did the red oak it looks great. Super job!
