Morning everyone! I thought a little introduction was in order, so y'all can get to know me a bit better.

I'm originally from Staten Island, and moved out here to North NJ in 2000. I've been a woodworker since I was tall enough to see over dad's tablesaw :) I got started in woodturning about a year ago when I saw a 1953 ShopSmith at a garage sale. That was the best (and most expensive!) $275 I've ever spent. I've since purchased a pile of tools, attachments for the ShopSmith, the Beal buffing system, a General 25-650 lathe, a Jet Mini EVS, a mess of toolrests, TWO chainsaws, and a SuperNova2 chuck with assorted jaws. I'm looking at 18" bandsaws now.

Since then, I've learned a huge amount from the WoodNet forums. I've also had the pleasure of a lesson with Bill Grumbine, where I also purchsed his excellent DVD.

Much of my work can be seen at my website, which is in my personal profile. You can also poke around my turning Photobucket album:

Here's a couple of recent ones.

There was just a discussion on laminated boxes:

A hickory box I made for a friend from wood taken from his property:

And an Amber Maple bowl I made during the class with Mr. Grumbine:

Nice to meet everyone :)

Welcome to the Creek, Joe! Glad you found us and thanks so very much for starting out with pictures "in hand"! :) (That'll keep the Picture Police off your behind!!!) :D Looks to me like you've really caught the "bug" in turning big time and have proof of that in both, equipment and awesome results! Checked through your PB albums and you certainly have most all of the bases covered. Very, very nice, indeed! :) I'm looking forward to more of your posts and more pics of your fine work! Come often, stay long! :)

Hello Joe.

Welcome aboard. One of my goals is to take a lesson from Bill G. Your lesson from him was obviously well worth it from the looks of the bowl you've turned.

Always nice to have another member of the world is round society and when the new member likes turning boxes he is doubly welcome. Keep 'em coming.:D I do love turning boxes. Something about the lid...I could just sit around and pop the top on and off most of the day.

Here's some more...I'll just link to them for those who are bandwidth-challenged :)
