Jorgenson vs Bessey

Two of the clamps I stole, oops I mean bought, from Amazon arrived today. Nice clamps with good sized jaws. I like how the support at the end of the clamp supports the bar high enough that the clamp head can slide.

I couldn't help but notice that the Jorgenson clamp is smooth and the Bessey clamp has a finely notched bar.

I was wondering if the smooth bar is better, worse or has the same effect on on the purpose at hand.

Hi Richard, I wondered the exact same thing. Where are the side grooves? But when I tried the new Jorgies, they had as much clamping power as my Bessies which amounts to as hard as I could tighten them. I like the plastic ends like you say; this is a real help. I like the Jorgies better at this point but haven't lived with them as long as I have the Bessies. Maybe it's the great price. Alan in Md.
