After I got the bowls done went back out to the shop with all intentions of cleaning up. I spotted a piece a poplar in the scrape wood bin. So pulled it out and commenced to turn. This is what I ended up with. It is 2" across and 3 3/4" tall. Finish with EEE, Mylands Friction Polish and Wax. SWMBO said it was hers. Anyway not to bad for a scrape. Turned out pretty well.

So Bernie, what is the missus doing with all these things that she's commandeering?
Oh --- all those commandeered things are really really nice. You are indeed developing some talent.

Indeed, not bad for a scrap!
Very nice.
Turning instead of cleaning sounds good.
Somehow I end up cleaning before I spot the scrap
and mess the place up again! Aaarrggh.:D

Nice looking box there Bernie, I like the look of the top. Now about that cleaning...you see for me, when everything is a mess, i know EXACTLY where it is. After I clean I spend half an afternoon looking for an 8mm drill bit that I supposidly put away in the right spot. So my turning area is clean enough to be sanitary and safe, but dirty enough to make me happy!

Best part of turning boxes is that you can use most any box sized piece of wood whether an expensive exotic or something from the scrap pile. This is a good looking box and nobody but you had to know that it was from the scrap pile, Bernie. Keep 'em coming. Love boxes!!!:D

Thanks. I appreciate all the comments. That is one thing I do enjoy is doing boxes. I think I am getting to the point where I can start to play with different designs now that I am comfortable with doing them.

Hey Eddie. That sounds like it would be worth it. I wish I had something like that around here. I think you will like doing boxes. They are a lot of fun.
