well guys here is a link to my first bowl I couldn't figure out how to resize the pic so I just posted a link. I did it with my gouge and my round nose scraper. I also used a faceplate and a waste block since I don't have a chuck yet

Jason, nice looking bowl. What is it made out of? It's quite colorful....good job!
I also enjoyed looking at your ink pens too.

its red aeromatic cedar atleast it made the house smell nice!

Jason that is a mighty fine looking first bowl. Just keep turning them out. It gets easier with everyone. Nice work. Like the pens also.

I like the rikon just fine got a rikon drill press too. do any of you guys have an idea where I can get more cedar blanks my neighbor wants 4 cedar bowls just like this one. he wants to be able to use them for chips and stuff so any idea on a good finish for that?

Ask you neighbor if he has a cedar tree he is not using.
