Hey all, I've enjoyed lot's of good information on SMC around how to finish the cast iron tops of shop equipment. I'm wondering if anyone has used or uses Carnauba wax. Looks like many of the folks over in the Turner's Forum use it on bowls and such, but I'm wondering if it might okay to use on tool surfaces. I picked up a can of Lundmark's Clear Paste Wax which is supposedly pure Carnauba Wax in Turpentine. It does not appear to have any silicon. I've read that Carnauba wax is pretty hard and since it's what I have already, I'm wondering if it's okay to use on machines.

I don't see any problem with it...although I hate the smell of turps!

Carnauba is among the hardest of waxes, and will make an excellent coating for your tool surfaces. Because it's so hard, though, you better have either a lot of energy for buffing it out, or a good power buffer!
