Just wanted to share another great turner with the world. Keith Tompkins demo'ed at our turning club as a warm up for the AAW symposium in July. He will be doing a demo on his technique for turning these roses he turns. There is some carving involved but everything is turned including the cube. Really I watched him do it! The fish are turned and carved as well. I've been watching Keith for a few years no and to see him evolve in what he does has been incredible. From segmented work to what he is doing now seems like a leap but when he talks about it it really makes alot of sense. Every year he takes things to a different level. He is truly an artist and a great guy. If you get to the national it would be worth seeing him demo.
Enjoy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Keith a couple years ago at an AAW symposium (and running the video camera for his session... ;) ) and he does wonderful work! Nice fellow, too. I always fine his ideas fresh, too.

I'm fortunate enough to know Keith fairly well and have seen his work up close and personal many times. His work is amazing and he is a real nice guy as well, very down-to-earth. He has helped me be a better demonstrator, and has helped me look at forms to improve my turning. At the NWA Showcase in March in Saratoga, NY, Keith took 3rd place with one of his roses in one of the turning categories. (I took second!:D ). If you ever get a chance to see him turn or take a class with him, it will be well worth it.
