Mystery wood. Some of what I am asking if anyone can ID for me. Spalted in the sap wood and soft too. Had a catch and broke the tenon (which I expected) just couldn't keep the center in place and hollow too.

If I plane the tenon off I can mount it on a face plate but it's going to take some long screws. Meaning the bowl is going to get 1/3? shorter than it is now.

Shape sucks. I was saving the spalted area but I don't like the shape. If I clean it up going to loose the spalting.

Yes the plith is in there. It's almost hollow so if it cracks some that OK, it not a soup bowl, it an art bowl. If I finish it.

If it was yours what would do with it? Finish it? Scrap it?
If you finished it what would you do with the shape?

Just debating what to do with this one. Work has taken all my creativity trying to write some interesting ads for my new business. :(

OK, appears to be Box Elder that I have.

:) Maybe there is some red in the ones I have to cut down!

I wonder if you can crazy glue the tenon back on.

Never hurts to try and save it.

Jeff, set it aside for a while, turn some other stuff, look at it often,
turn some more stuff, then in a few months get it back on the lathe
for another round!

Excellent advice (I think). Will sit it where I see it and 'think' on it.;)
