Hey Bart...How much are you expecting to pay? The reason I ask, is that there are tiered candy dishes out there that you could trash the dish and keep the hardware. I found a few...ranging from $10 to $20. Here's one for $17

Why can't you turn 'em?

Because it won't look quite the way I want it to.

HAHA, Andy beat me too it! In the October '05 issue of Woodwork there is a plan for "turning a three-tier serving stand. I made on out of sycamore and my wife and family loved it. I took it to a club meet and got several compliments on it.

I wonder if you could get those somewhere where they sell pottery supplies?

Burt,
How about threaded rod epoxied into the top dish, with standoffs/spacers of suitable metal tubing separating the lower two dishes?

Yeah...what Frank said...and a matching turned finial on top.

Bart,
John’s suggestion of capping with a finial leads us to readily available lamp parts.
