Last weekend while at Travis's place Keith gave us a demo on how to turn an open segmented hollow form. This is my first attempt at it after making all the jigs and sanding blocks, but it will not be my last.:D

It is Walnut and Cherry and is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2" and is finished with Deft Spray on Satin finish.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone, Keith was a pretty good instructor.

I'm glad he showed us how to make one of these before Travis and everyone got him to turning green wood, the man was in seventh heaven with all those curls covering him up.:D Not sure it will keep him from dry wood, but at least he knows how the wet stuff it.

Thanks again Keith.;)

Is that an index plate on the headstock? Did you make it or buy it. I saw on the internet there is a guy, I think in Texas who sells index plates and a jig for gluing on the segments while the work is held in a chuck in the headstock. Did you use his equipment? Did you glue the segments on while the work was held to the headstock?

Nice piece and quite a technique to learn.
