It happened again. I needed to drill a number of holes 4" deep, and my little 12" Delta Drill Press only has a throw of 3". I decided it was finally time to buy the Delta 17-925, 16-1/2" VS drill press I have wanted for a while now.

Now I can drill 6" deep holes!

David.

Every neighbourhood has one, in mine, I'm him.

P.S. And yes, I do suffer freak snow storms in my shop...

Didn't we just have this conversation over on the wreck?

By the way, I mounted a 2x4 Handy Box (don't know what they're called in the Great White North) on the left side of the head, back by where the column goes through. Drilled and tapped holes to hold it on, and ran the power cord through there so I could mount an outlet in it to power one of those magnetic work lights.

Are you going to tell them how you assembled it, or will that be our little secret?

And by the way, what is that snow, really? Is it on the camera? On the film? On the digits?

Sweet, once you go variable speed you won't go back. My Powermatic is a dream to use.

But it looks like with the head up that high it will be a bugger to switch the belts. :D

What a perfect excuse for a VS DP!

A 6" throw??? Wow!
