<p>Well, I took possession Wednesday of a like-new Delta DC380 15" planer and a like-new Delta DJ20 8" jointer.

<p>Please pardon the background noise. These pics were taken at the previous owner's warehouse. They are now safely ensconced in my shop and the planer is on a new Delta mobile base. The base for the jointer will be in a week or so from now.
<p>I am thrilled. I never expected to have this jointer and I had been wanting this planer for quite some time. They are both about three years old, look immaculate, and have only had about 100 bd feet through them. I got the pair for $1700. And only 40 miles from home.

All that New Yankee work must have you seeing Delta. Congrats on 2 fine machines at a great price. They look great, and are well deserved after missing a shop for several years. Plus they will look good next to that VS drill press.

Now would be a good time to think about buying a Makita slow speed sharpener for both machines. I bought mine over ten years ago and it is absolutely indispensable. No other machine can match the knife sharpening quality of the Makita. Mirror edged knives you can shave with and no worries about balance or overheating.

There is a real nice bonus with the Makita, it will find cracked blades if you know a little about iron and magnetism. I've found two transverse cracked blades in the years I have been sharpening my own knives. Both times I verified the cracks with a dye penetrant test...very scary stuff.

Those are certainly fine looking machines. The length of table on the 8" jointer is especially nice. Congrats on your new purchase.

Nice haul. You will enjoy having the planer. Really a big difference over using the lunchbox models. They will run all day without complaint and produce prodigious amounts of sawdust.
