I didn't find any walnut in time, so I wound up using some cedar. The logs had a lot of rot hidden inside and it was a close thing finding enough clear wood to use. The large one is : 20 inches tall x 4 1/2 base x 3 inch top....small ones are 16 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2...Base is solid piece measuring 24x 5 1/2 x 3 1/4....Sticks are joined to base by a bolt [3/8 inch] in the stick, connecting to a t-nut recessed in base. Wedding is next Sat so these will have to do....I apologize for including the flatwork in this post, but my daughter wanted a table to set it on. So........

Very nice candlesticks. I especially like the chain connecting them, very original and neat, and the wood doesn't have any obvious rot spotsto mar the nice finish

Hey...Those turned out pretty nice Doug! It is a shame about the walnut, but you certainly hit it good with the cedar. Nice forms too!:)

Thanks for the encouragement. I wasn't sure about the chain. When I first pictured this in my mind, I saw the chain. After putting it on the sticks, I wasn't sure. But I have recieved nothing but positive responses. And, most important, my daughter approves.

That's a beautiful set of candle holders. They will be something that becomes a family heirloom for sure.

The table is nice too.

Thanks Curt, for the kind words. I spent a lot of time 'fiddlin' round with the base and sticks but the little table just flew together. Glad you like it.

Good job matching them up Doug. That's going to look great at a wedding.

Thanks Ernie. One thing is for sure, they will be far prettier than I will at the wedding.

Doug, they came out great. I'm glad you showed us the finished product. I remember the prototypes. Your daughter is one fortunate and obviously loved young lady. Congrats and best wishes to all!
