We'll last week when I was at woodcraft and picked up my new bowl gouge I thought about picking up a spare belt just in case. So today I sharpen up the gouge to try it out. I cranked up the speed on the Rikon to 1200 and was merrily spinning away when I got a big catch in a piece of maple/walnut that I wanted to practice on. Well you guessed it the belt snapped. Now I have to go out and get a new belt (or two).
Lessons learned.
Follow you instincts..:(
Don't tighten the belt tension so tight..:o
