I finished wet sanding this Buckeye hollow form today. I turned it at the gathering last weekend. It's 6" tall by almost 6" across and ended up weighing 7 oz. Ebony collar with lacquer finish.

Wow, that is something. I just don't see how you guys turn something like that without blowing it all over the shop. Wonderful!

That's just buck-a-roo, Travis!! :D :D :D Great piece. I really like buckeye hollowforms...they so often have such a different look due to the coloration, etc. Nice!

Everywhere I look, I see other people's work and think, "I think I can try that".....Then along comes Travis. Sheesh!

There were several things about this that were impressive. The first thing impressive was that Travis got his hands out of his pockets long enough to get this turned...:D

The second thing that was impressive was how EASY he makes turning something like this look. I think we were all waaaay impressed at that.

How'd he sand the inside? He didn't very much that I saw. The cuts he made inside were very neat and smooth.

And like Jim said - light as a feather.

Great work, Travis!

It was very cool to watch this being turned. From the side with the light just right, you could actually see the cutter as Travis cut it.

I of course was asked to leavewhen Travis went to part it off... since I jinxed Travis twice previously when he parted off a form.:p

It was funny everyone that picked this up had two hands on it and was very carefull handing it to another person..Travis carried it by 2 fingers...

Can't add much to what has already been said. To watch Travis turn is a treat. You can't really explain what and how he does what he does, just suffice it to say you know you are watching a master.

Travis this is a beauty. This should be in an art gallery, museum, or somone's very expensive home. I rate it as expensive because of its beauty and the expertise required to make it. Thanks for showing it to us.

"SUPERCALIFRAGISTICEXPALIDOIUS" IS THE ONLY WORD I KNOW TO EXPLAIN HOW MAGNIFICIANT THAT IS. IT IS ALSO SCARY, WITH ALL THAT OPEN SPACE!

kEEP IT UP AND I WILL TURN IN MY TOOLS, TRAVIS.
