Got 3 cherry pawns done last night.

For you guys who have wanted to make chessmen but haven't started I recommend that you start, and do 1 or 2 pieces here and there. Doing all 32 as quickly as possible may not be all that enjoyable.

This is a gift for a friend's birthday at the end of July and I tend to procrastinate. So as long as I have the interst, I'm going to keep cranking them out.

And the board will be the same wood. Still a lot to do on that and I intend to incorporate it into a tapered leg table.

Excellent work Tim. I've been wanting to do a set of these myself but that procrastination thing keeps getting in the way. Thanks for the inspiration.

Tim,

Your chess pieces look great! Here is a suggestion regarding speed; consider turning at least 2 at a time from a single blank as mirror immages. By doing this you can very closely match the two pieces since they are side by side. This should cut you time by at least half.

Seriously, I am impresssed. I have never tried turning matched sets before. sure it is not easy as it looks.... heck, it don't even look easy to me.
