Hey all,

Since these pictures of the new rook I have turned still another pawn. So, 5 down and 27 to go.

Looks like it's going to be a wonderful set! I don't know if you're doing blacks, too, but if so, shoe polish is a nice way to ebonize those pieces...

Yes, they do take a while. But I have a while before they need to be done (late July).

And yes, I'm making the board too...flat land !!

The ones you're seeing are poplar. The darks will be cherry. Both trees came from my back yard. I'm sanding to 400 grit, then using some polish (can't remember the name) which has a grit in it. Then finish it off with a coat of Shellawax.

And I did two more pawns tonight, so that's 7 down and 25 to go.
