Hey all,
Not sure which forum I should put this on. Between the discussion on where to find inspiration here & Don Henthorns discussion on how to finish off a cabinet base he made years ago, on the design forum, I found this web site:

It's the National Gallery of the Arts Index of American Designs.
includes early American furniture, shaker crafts, woodcarving & metalwork, among others. Not a urinal or naked guy covered in chocolate in the whole bunch (sorry that's pretty close to a political statement on what the Gov't has spent our money on in the past -in the name of art )
anyway - I found it pretty interesting.
