Short of drum or widebelt sanding, what is the best method for preparing fresh sawn veneer for use? That is, removing bandsaw marks and attaining a uniform, flat surface for gluing.

dan, if your bandsaw has left only minor marks look at them as "toothing" and glue right off the saw....02 tod

Depending on the species and thickness, I have had some success using a melamine platen set on my planer's bed and feeding the vaneer through it taking VERY lite cuts...

Hi Dan,
Like Tod, my bandsaw with a 1" Resaw King blade produces veneer that is nearly flawless. I can go strait to glue up.

If you're a dedicated Neader, a scraper will do. Hold it diagonally so it doesn't catch in the grooves.

I use a cabinet scraper from LV, limilar to a Stanley #80 I believe. Gotta be carefull about maintaining consistent thickness.
