I've been turning a little...:)

Black Cherry Salad Bowl - nothing remarkable about it... just big for me and what I think is a nice chunk of Cherry... spent a lot of time sanding on this one. Three coats of Mineral Oil wiped on for a finish.

Now Andy, THIS is an ice cream bowl....;)

12-1/2" OD
5" tall
5/8" wall thickness

The clarity of the grain shows the effort you put into sanding it, Mark. Extra effort always pays off and this bowl is the dividend. Nice work!:D

Very nice!
I like the shape and color.
The walls give it a nice solid look that's not too heavy.

Besides OD, height and the usual info maybe we need to start including how many gallons of ice cream it holds. This looks like 1 1/2 - 2. Sounds like Andy's bedtime snack :D

I stole the picture and blew it up. Geez Mark...that thing must have 20 different distinctive colors...including pink!!
Wonderful form too.

I think I'd fill it with Cheerios for a night time snack.;)

Black Cherry Salad Bowl - nothing remarkable about it...

I beg to differ, it is remarkable! Nice bowl Mark! I don't think even Andy could eat all the ice cream this one would hold. But, he would enjoy the experience. A great bowl of ice cream in a truely great bowl. Keep this one for yourself!

I'd say that's most definitely very remarkable! That a beautiful piece of wood and the shape is perfect. The oil really brings out the beauty in the wood too.

I really like that piece, Mark. Great "functional" form that looks just beautiful. (Of course, it would look even better filled with Friendly's Forbidden Chocolate...and the spoon in my hand... :D)

This is one NICE, BIG bowl. Shows off the grain and color real well. I can only dream of doing something like that.

I don't get all the ice cream comments though. A cherry bowl of that size and awesome caliber deserves more in it than ice cream .......... Like a boiled up mess of these.......

Very nice bowl Mark. The color, grain, and shape are excellent. I think you did a great job getting that "string drop" curve and the symetry of the grain shows that you put some thought into it. That's a world class bowl Mark.

I like these classic lines on this timeless bowl design. You have done a very good job on keeping ture to a form that needs little improvement. The black cherry is just about my favorite.

Great looking bowl Mark! I love how cherry looks and turns. One of my favorite woods. Great job on the finish, really shows off the wood grain.
(I have got to get back to turning!).

Mark,

That bowl is remarkable to say the least (pun intended) :D

You achieved such clarity in the finish. Your efforts really shine thru on this one. Beautiful job. I may have to go black cherry hunting in the woods around here after seeing yours. I'd bet that would make some pretty pens as well.
