Took that "Intro to the Lathe" at Woodcraft yesterday. Still can't believe I spent 4 hours of a gorgeous Sunday indoors, but it was well worth it.
Instructor Mike Hussebee spent hours teaching us about the lathe itself, what to look for, what to watch out for in buying a lathe. Then spent time going over each of the major tools, then time on sharpening and finally we spent about an hour making a square stick round with a bunch of different profiles, tapers, tulips, etc.
I had way too much fun, and I think this is something Mrs. Schwingding would really enjoy as well.
Down that slope I go.
