I am having a tough time differentiating these two models. Seems as though the 50-850 costs more than the 50-760. The only major differences I can cipher are the motor/impeller housing location (50-760 capable of mounting in two directions) and the 50-760 has a 1-micron bag versus a 5-micron bag (30-micron in some cases) for the 50-850.

Both have 1.5hp motors. I am not sure about the impeller size comparison.

They are each slightly different in physical dimension.

Is there something I am missing? I am likely to buy the 50-760 (mostly for the 1-micron bag) in the near future, but see others still buying the 50-850. Any reason to choose one over the other?

Thanks in advance.
Matt

Fine Woodworking recently did a comparison and I can't remember which one came out better but I'm sure others will chime in here who have a better short term memory than me.

The 50-760 got best honors. I own a Delta 850 and was also surprised by the findings but, they did conduct a very fair test. I have my 850 ducted to all my major toold with blast gates and radio remote control and if I were doing it over again I would go with the big Grizzly cyclone which recently got top honors in another magazine.

Bob Dodge has endorsed the 76X line of DCs. And he knows one heck of a lot about them.

I have the 50-760 and like it. One advantage is that you can place a trashcan separator directly under the intake and within the trolly, so it rolls around with the DC. You will want to open the trashcan lid separator openings to match the 5" opening of the DC, and that is a bit of work with a file. I can send you a picture of my setup if you would like.
