Well I got my Makita Sharpener and what a unit !! :) It just so happens in my rush to sharpen something I dropped a plane blade on the Ground Whoops ...;) So I connected all the goodies on the Sharpener and was ready to Grind away and I noticed the manual so i decided to read a page or two. I discovered that these stones need to soak in water for 20 minutes before you use them. Good thing I read the manual I had water in the tank but never heard of soaking stones. I had been using Diamond stones and leather strop. I have some questions though.

Although the Green Wheel took the nick out of the Plane blade how do you adjust the angle on the blade? Do you lengthen the Plane blade in the tool holder ?

Question Do you really need to remove the tool rest to flatten the back of the blades ? If so do you flatten the backs of all your tools first then Attach the toolrest and do the Bevels?

Do you still need to strop the chisel blades and Plane Blades?

Boy this little unit is messy but it sure sharpened my chisel and plane blade.

Ben;)
