Hello All,
This section of the creek is not having much activity, so I posted photos of my latest piece and the start of my next. 2002 fire bike (my brother inlaw) is 36" X 24" has 881 parts 18 wood spieces. The Golden Gate will be 48" X 32" no idea how many parts at this time, may be 1500 or more. It will take a month or so to complete the drawing. I'll post the progress.35268

Dennis,

That's a really ambitious project, and already looks amazing! Are you doing it as a gift for your brother in law?

Very Cool.

How thick are the pieces you used on the motorcycle one?

The piece will be displayed at a Harley dealership, in hopes of recieving some commissions.

The wood is resawn to 5/32 with a indexing resaw fence, then thickness sanded to 1/8. After assembly on 1/2 7 ply Baltic birch sanded to 19/32 using a 50" sander.

Dennis:

Very cool project. I don't have a laser yet, but that is the type of work I see myself doing, maybe incorporating similiar designs into furniture.

May I ask the type of computer program you are using to do this excellent work?

For the pictures I use Corel 13 and geometric items I use AutoCad. The laser is a 100 watt X2-660 ULS.

Your work is awesome. I wish you luck with your Harley Commissions. I bet they will be lining up for one of their own.
Good luck. I wish I had your talent. (I have some of my own though)

Mine's not nearly as nice as those masterpieces, but I wanted to post anyway...it's made of one of the log slices you see for sale by Walnut Hollow in a lot of craft stores and Wal-Mart.

Not quite the contrast I was looking for...
