View Full Version : It all started with a simple request...

It all started with a simple request by my daughter for a "microwave stand". After she described it, though, it was anything but a simple microwave stand. To shorten the story, she ended up with a hutch. That turned out reasonably well and stirred up enough juices to build my own router table. Fence was part of the project also. Hopefully, that will make the projects the other siblings requested easier. Pics from both attached.

Thanks to all those whose threads provided advice to other's questions but also were useful to me.

Great Job on both projects Ralph. Is the back of the hutch T&G beaded boards? Also the joints look real tight, good craftsmanship there!

PS-Welcome to the forum!

That's amazing. I built one almost exactly like that out of pine. Very nice job on both!

Thank you for the comments, all. Looking forward to being more involved here.

The back is tongue and groove slats. Thought it would give the piece a nice effect.

Very nice work on both pieces. I was going to ask where you got the plans for the fence, but it sounds like they came from Pat Warner?

Welcome, Ralph. Isn't it amazing how simple things can evolve? (Nice job!)

Yes, the plans for the fence were the Pat Warner plans. Not really difficult but still very challenging. There are a few parts I may "do over". \

The Hutch was based on plans from Norm Abram but modified a little (mostly shortened the height).

I really like that hutch Ralph! Nice job on the grain orientation too. It all flows nicely on the piece.
