Good Friday Morning Everyone,

Hope all of you have power this morning. Probably doesn't bother you neanders at all to go without electrons, but us forktail tool addicts have just got to have our fixes!

So what's happening this weekend? Any sawdust in your weekend?

I am teaching a class at the local toy store tomorrow so I'll get to make some sawdust tomorrow. I'm hoping to get some work done on the bookshelves Sunday, but SWMBO was telling me last night that she hasn't seen much of me since putting the AC in the shop, hint, hint, hint......... we're going to catch a movie tonight!

Have a great weekend everyone,
Bob

Hi all,

I have been reading this forum for about a month now and I think that its time for me to contribute. So...

I will be trying to finish up a couple of Adirondack chairs for my mother's birthday. They are being made out of cyprus. I would love to warm up the wood color a bit but I'm unsure about staining them.

The range arrives tomorrow so I'll finally get to begin installing the base cabinets for the kitchen renovation. I'll also be finishing construction of the base unit for the "ell" so I can get it installed soon, too...it needs to be in place so we can deal with the counter-tops. My brother is coming down later today, so I'll have a helper for those heavy cabinets...'rents have been visiting all week, too! Full house and it's driving LOML nuts... :D

-------

William, I left my cypress Adirondack chairs natural so they would weather to a nice grey...which they have.

Not much sawdust here. We'll be spending the weekend in Centralia, IL at a balloon show.

If I have time and ambition when I get back Sunday, I may work on some oak display cabinets for the home office.

We have a woodmizer coming next week to cut up some red oak, white oak, cherry, and walnut. I'm really excited to see how they work and to add to the lumber supply.

I finished the first of three pieces of baby furniture for my son and his wife. I delivered the Chest of Drawers last night (pics below). This weekend I will be working on a coin box for our home owners association. If I am lucky, I will start the baby's changing station on Monday. Everyone have a good weekend.

BTW, this chest is made from Sassafras.

Besides the usual weekend sidetracks, taking the son to a petting farm.

Installing a sliding shelf in an in-wall stereo cabinet project to handle a turntable, building a door for the cabinet and hopefully it gets a coat of primer.

Working on boxing out ducting in the shop, so I can finish the drop ceiling.

And if I still have some time left, bulding some doors for some storage areas.

If there are no unexpected disruptions of course -Yeah right

I'm going to pull everything out of my shop area - 1/2 of 2 car garage- clean up & try to figure out how to organize it. If I pull this off I might actually be able to finish a project sometime in the near future.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Byron - that's a fine piece of furniture you made there.
Jim - Have fun at the Balloon rally my friends with the flag & shuttle are heading to Maine (I think) today.

Washing machine died so tonight I get to go and spend money (that could have been spent on tools!) on a new washer and dryer. Tomorrow I'm helping a friend lay 500 sq ft of vinyl floor in his new addition. Need to can up some tomatos and make some salsa and oh ya work on the drawers for the two end tables and the night stand that I'm finishing up. (will post pictures when they are finished). Also need to mow if it ever gets dry enough. Wednesday was my birthday and I got the woodcraft slow speed 8" grinder, a set of butt chisels, and a new bowl gouge at least.

Dang it I have got to get my patio done...fortunately no lathe arrived this week, so I wont have that distracting me. Sunday, if the patio is sufficiently completed by LOML standards, I may try to get to Harbor Freight after church. Just found out there is one local so I could be out some more money that I don't have :D

My New(old)house remodeling; House I bought about three months ago.

Just finished the master bedroom bath remodel including a new shower alcove, tile floor, painting, building and installing a 60" vanity.

After 2.5 months and hours of work on other parts of the house, I just moved in  this last weekend after finishing the master bedroom bath.

THIS weekend, will be building the 36" vanity for the bath off the hall. Last few weekends ago just finished with new tile floor, new light fixtures, and finaly the painting and wall paper. Pics to come.

More to come: living room and kitchen

Every weekend of course is the yard work, :( what I call our park, 9/10 of an acer of trees, bushes and grass to keep trim. I do the push mower and dad does the rider mower and ma does the weeding, it just doesn't get any better then this. ;)

Have to work Saturday...........BUMMER! We will be performing Transformer and Feeder Maintenance on the Electrical Systems at the College, and I need to be there. Plan on meeting up with Jim Baker in Centralia, IL for the Hot Air Balloon Rally on Saturday, late afternoon/evening. I have always been fascinated by Hot Air Balloons, and I expect to get some great pictures. Looking forward to meeting another fellow Creekster and Woodworker. Sunday, mostly R&R and maybe a little shop time. Summer is back in Illinois..............Hot and Humid! Enjoy and be safe! :)

No sawdust here...have to tear up 2000 sq/ft of indoor/outdoor carpeting. I'm renting a pneumatic "pogo stick" that I've heard makes the job easier. I sure hope so as it's glued down every inch..

Have a great weekend.

Going to be hauling hay for the hay burners. Finally found someone to cut and bale the ten acres near town after the last guy bowed out.
May try to start the doors on a set of kitchen cabinets for a new house I am doing. Have all the bases, counters, and most of the uppers done and installed. Steve

I have a guy coming Monday who wants to learn how to cane so I REALLY have to clean up the shop. I have never let it get this bad before. I also need to design a hanging cabinet to replace a hanging box open on one side for a hood and vent over the kitchen range. The hood was never installed and I want to hang a cabinet with glass on two sides so it doesn't darken the room as much. Will probably frame and panel the exposed end although the other cabinets are not frame and panel on the ends.

Greetings Bob Lasley!!!

Well....I'm oncall for "work" this weekend and I can expect to put in around 40 hours or more of "work" this weekend. I just got things stable enough for me to get a little shut-eye before starting all this again, as long as my pager doesn't go off..!!!!!

There will be next to NO SHOP TIME this weekend due to "work" and besides that, I have to get busy on getting things ready for my part of the Central States BBQ at Terry's coming up real soon.

I have started working on those benches for LOML's kitchen table and all I have left to do on them is apply about 3 good coats of oil based Poly. The benches ain't nuttin' fancy....but they will definitely be better than those folding chairs that are falling apart now. :-) Sheesh!!!!!

Taking a break from the whole-house tile project. We're about 40% done. Now I just have to move all of our furniture from the untiled half of the house onto the tiled side so that we can finish prepping and chalking it all out.

LOML gave me a copy of Richard Feynman's Lectures on Physics (The full three volume set!) for my birthday last week, so I forsee some reading this weekend.

A buddy of mine and I have started attending a carving club here in Albuquerque. I've always wanted to learn, and (here comes another birthday gloat...) I will probably spend some time practicing with my new carving gear.

Trying to stay COOL  is the #1 chore for the weekend! Will try to, at least, get part of the shop back in some semblence of order, plane down a bit more stock and try my hand at a cutting board or two. (One for a housewarming gift, another for Christmas present stock.) If one of the days is cool enough, some outdoor chores are calling, as well. Have a great weekend all!

Jeff let us know how that pogo works because I have to do the same thing one of these days. I've never heard of the machine. Do find them at rental stores?

Rental stores should have them, although RSC did not. In Tulsa I found one at ABC rental. $38 a day and they say you need at least a 9cfm compressor. I'm starting this afternoon and all day Sunday. I'll let you know the results.
